What Happens If You Fail a Quiz in the New Jersey Defensive Driving Course (DDC)
If you do not pass a quiz in the New Jersey Defensive Driving Course (DDC) offered by Driving Logic, your progress through the course is paused until you pass. Each module quiz must be passed with a score of 80% or higher before the next lesson becomes available.
How Quiz Gating Works
The course is structured so that each lesson ends with a module quiz. Students must:
Score at least 80% — 16 of 20 questions correct — to pass
Pass the quiz before the next lesson is unlocked
Retake the quiz if the passing score is not met
Students cannot advance to a later lesson or access the proficiency exam until all module quizzes have been passed.
What to Do After a Failed Quiz Attempt
If you do not achieve 80% on a quiz:
Review the lesson material for that module
Identify the topics covered in the questions you found difficult
Return to the quiz when you are ready and retake it
There is no limit on quiz retakes and no additional charge to retry.
Quizzes vs. the Proficiency Exam
Module quizzes and the proficiency exam are separate assessments. Each module quiz covers only the content from that lesson. The proficiency exam, taken after all modules are complete, draws 40 questions from the full 120-question bank. Passing all module quizzes is required before the proficiency exam becomes available.
After Successfully Completing the Course
Once all module quizzes and the proficiency exam have been passed:
A completion certificate is issued and available for download
Driving Logic submits completion records to the New Jersey MVC
