What Are the Segment Questions in the Arizona Defensive Driving Course (DDC)
Segment questions are substantive multiple-choice questions that appear at the end of each lesson segment in the Arizona Defensive Driving Course. They are based on the content you just completed in that segment. You must answer them correctly before the next segment unlocks.
How Segment Questions Work
The course is divided into segments — portions of a lesson that must be completed sequentially. Each segment ends with a set of questions about the material covered in that specific segment. You must answer all questions correctly to proceed. If you answer incorrectly, you can retry immediately.
There is no score or percentage attached to segment questions. You either answer correctly and advance, or you try again. There is no limit on the number of attempts and no penalty for retrying.
What the Questions Cover
Segment questions are drawn from the content of that specific segment only — not the full course. They test your understanding of the Arizona traffic laws, driving techniques, or safety concepts covered in the segment you just completed.
Segment Questions vs. Identity Validation Questions
Segment questions and identity validation questions are two different things. Segment questions assess your understanding of the course content and allow unlimited retries. Identity validation questions verify your identity and failing them results in immediate course failure. Do not confuse the two.

Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if I get a segment question wrong? You can retry immediately. There is no limit on attempts and no penalty for wrong answers on segment questions.
Do segment questions cover the whole course or just one segment? Each set of segment questions covers only the material from that specific segment — not the entire course.
How many segment questions are there per segment? Each segment ends with a minimum of three questions based on the content of that segment.
Are segment questions the same as the identity validation questions? No. Segment questions test your understanding of the content and allow unlimited retries. Identity validation questions verify your identity and failing them causes immediate course failure.
Can I look up answers during segment questions? The course expects you to engage with the material and answer based on what you have just learned. The content is immediately available to review if you need it before answering.
