The Texas Adult Driver Education Course is 6 hours long. The course tracks your active instructional time and enforces the state-required minimum. You do not have to finish in one sitting — progress saves automatically and you can return as many times as you need.

Texas law requires a minimum of 6 clock hours of instruction. The course is structured to meet this requirement automatically. Each lesson has a minimum time allocation that reflects the required instructional content for that topic. You do not need to manage the timing yourself.

The course is designed to be completed in a single session if you prefer, but this is a personal choice — not a requirement. Some students complete it in an evening, others spread it across two or three days.

Unlike the Driving Safety Course, there is no court-imposed deadline for completing this course. Take the time you need. However, if you have a learner's permit that is approaching its expiration, factor that into your timing.

Can I finish the course faster than 6 hours? No. The course is timed and you cannot advance through instructional content faster than the state-required minimum. Active time is tracked automatically.

Does the timer keep running if I leave the course open? No. The timer only tracks active engagement with the course content. Leaving your browser open without interacting does not count toward instructional time.

Do I have to complete the DPS exam in the same session as the rest of the course? No. You can complete the course content across multiple sessions and take the DPS exam when you are ready. The exam is the final lesson in the course.

Is there a time limit on how long I have to finish the course? There is no deadline set by Driving Logic. You can take as long as you need to complete the course.

How long does the DPS exam take? The DPS exam is 30 multiple-choice questions. Most students complete it in 20–30 minutes. You have as much time as you need.
