How Long Do I Have to Complete the Tennessee Driver Education Course (Traffic School)?

You have 120 days from the date you enroll to complete the Tennessee Driver Education Course. If you do not finish within 120 days, your account access expires and you will need to repurchase the course to continue.

This is separate from any deadline set by your court or the Tennessee DSHS. Your court or DSHS deadline may be shorter than 120 days — always confirm their deadline before enrolling and plan to finish well before it.

Two Separate Deadlines to Track

Most students need to track two deadlines at the same time:

1. Driving Logic's 120-day access window You have 120 days from enrollment to finish the course. If this window expires, you lose access. You would need to repurchase to regain access — there is no automatic extension.

2. Your court's or DSHS's submission deadline - Ticket dismissal: Your court sets the deadline. It is typically the date listed on your citation or the date your court gave you when granting permission. - Point reduction: You must complete the course and submit your certificate to the DSHS within 90 days of your conviction date. - Insurance discount: No state deadline, but check with your insurer.

Your court or DSHS deadline is almost always earlier than 120 days. Plan to finish the course with enough time to receive your certificate and submit it before their deadline.

What Happens If My 120-Day Window Expires?

If you do not complete the course within 120 days of enrollment, your access expires. You will need to repurchase the course at the full price ($29.97) to regain access and continue. Progress from your previous enrollment is not carried over.

Driving Logic does not automatically extend access windows. If you are approaching the 120-day mark and have not finished, contact us to discuss your options.

Tips for Staying on Track

  • The course takes a minimum of 4 hours. You can spread it across multiple sessions — there is no requirement to finish in one sitting.

  • Progress saves automatically after each completed page.

  • Log in regularly to avoid losing momentum.

  • If you have a court or DSHS deadline, finish at least a few days early to account for certificate delivery and submission time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the 120-day clock start from enrollment or from when I first open the course? The 120-day window starts from your enrollment date — the date you purchased and created your account. It does not reset if you wait to start the course.

I enrolled but haven't started yet. Am I losing time? Yes. The 120-day window begins at enrollment, not when you start the course content. If you enrolled and then waited several weeks to begin, those weeks count against your 120 days. Start as soon as possible after enrolling.

What if I have a court deadline of 60 days but the Driving Logic window is 120 days? Your court deadline takes priority. You must finish the course and submit your certificate before your court's deadline regardless of how much time remains in the 120-day Driving Logic access window.

Can I get a refund if I don't finish in time? Refunds are available within 30 days of purchase as long as your certificate has not been issued. If your 120-day window expires but you are still within the 30-day refund window and have not received a certificate, contact us to discuss eligibility.
