What Is the Passing Score for the Texas Driving Safety Course (DSC)
You must answer at least 14 of 20 questions correctly on each lesson quiz to pass and advance. That is a 70% passing score. This applies to all 5 lesson quizzes. There is no separate final exam.
Passing Score Details
Each lesson ends with a 20-question multiple-choice quiz. To pass:
14 or more correct = Pass — the next lesson unlocks
13 or fewer correct = Not passed — retake the quiz before advancing
The 70% requirement is set by TDLR as the mastery standard for the Texas Driving Safety Course.
Retakes
If you do not pass a quiz on your first attempt, you can retake it immediately. There is no limit on retakes and no penalty for attempting a quiz multiple times. Questions may vary between attempts as the course draws from a question bank.
What Happens After Passing All Quizzes
Once you pass the quiz for all 5 lessons, the course is complete. Your DS-230 completion certificate is generated and emailed to you automatically.
