What Happens If You Close the Arizona Defensive Driving Course (DDC) Before Finishing

If you close the Arizona Defensive Driving Course before finishing, your progress is saved automatically. You can log back in at any time and continue from exactly where you stopped. You do not need to restart from the beginning.

How Progress Saving Works

Your course progress — completed lessons, segment question results, and time logged — is saved to your Driving Logic account. Closing the browser, shutting down your device, or logging out does not erase your progress. When you return, your dashboard shows where you left off.

The Timer Stops When You Leave

The course timer only runs while you are actively engaged with the content. When you close the course, the timer stops. Time you have already completed is saved and counts toward your 4-hour requirement.

The 7-Day Deadline Still Applies

Closing the course does not pause or extend your court deadline. You must still complete the course at least 7 days before your court appearance date. If you close the course and realize your deadline is approaching, return and complete it as soon as possible. If you may not finish in time, contact your court about an extension.

No Certificate Without Completing All Requirements

Closing the course partway through does not result in a certificate. Your certificate is issued only after you complete all 8 lessons, all segment questions, all identity validation requirements, and meet the full 4-hour time requirement.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if my internet disconnects mid-lesson? Your progress up to the last save point is retained. When you reconnect and return, you may need to repeat a small portion of the current segment but will not lose completed lessons.

Will I lose progress if I close my browser? No. Progress is saved to your account automatically.

What if I accidentally close the course during a participation prompt or identity validation question? If an active timed prompt expires before you respond, you may be logged out. Identity validation failures have serious consequences — review the identity validation article for details. Let us know and we can help if you have concerns.

How long do I have before my access expires? You have 120 days from your enrollment date. In most cases your 7-day court deadline will come before the 120-day window, so focus on the court deadline first.

What if I close the course and my court date is approaching? Return to the course immediately. If you may not be able to finish in time, contact your court about an extension and let us know so we can help.
