Missouri Driver Improvement Program (DIP): Complete Guide
The Missouri Driver Improvement Program (DIP) is a court-ordered online course that prevents points from being assessed on your Missouri driving record after a traffic conviction. This guide covers everything you need to know from enrollment through completion.
What the Course Is
The Missouri Driver Improvement Program is an online course administered by the Missouri Safety Center at the University of Central Missouri. It meets or exceeds the National Safety Council's eight-hour Defensive Driving Course (DDC-8) standard. The course is delivered entirely online — no classroom attendance is required.
The course is available only to drivers who have been ordered by a court to complete it. Voluntary enrollment is not available.
Who Takes This Course
The Missouri Driver Improvement Program is for Missouri-licensed drivers who have been ordered by a court to complete a driver improvement course as part of a traffic conviction proceeding. You must have a court order before enrolling.
If your court has approved your participation in the Driver Improvement Program, you may enroll at drivinglogic.com/missouri/driver-improvement-program-course. CDL holders from any state are not eligible, regardless of the vehicle involved in the violation.
Cost
The course costs $29.97. This is a one-time payment with no additional fees. Full course access, all quizzes, the final exam, and your Form 4444 completion certificate are all included. Driving Logic accepts credit card and Apple Pay at checkout.
How to Enroll
Visit drivinglogic.com/missouri/driver-improvement-program-course and complete checkout. Your account is created automatically and you can begin the course immediately after payment. No software download is required — the course runs in any modern web browser on a computer, tablet, or smartphone.
How the Course Works
The course is completely self-paced and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Your progress saves automatically, so you do not need to finish in one sitting. You can log in and out as many times as needed and work through the material at your own speed.
The course is organized into 6 lessons completed in sequence. Each lesson must be finished and its quiz passed before the next lesson becomes available. The final exam is in Lesson 6.
To log back in, go to drivinglogic.com, select Log In, and enter the email address and password you created at checkout.
What the Course Covers
The course is organized into 6 lessons:
Lesson 1 — Introduction: Risk and risk management principles.
Lesson 2 — Preparing to Drive: Physical and mental fitness to drive, including age, mobility, vision, hearing, illness, medication, emotional conditions, and conditions beyond your control.
Lesson 3 — Distracted and Impaired Driving: Impaired driving from alcohol and drugs, distracted driving, fatigued driving, and aggressive driving and road rage.
Lesson 4 — Successful Driving: The six most dangerous unsafe driving behaviors — improper speed, violating right of way, driving left of center, turning improperly, passing improperly, and following too closely.
Lesson 5 — Collision Prevention: Speed management and managing space to the front, sides, and rear of your vehicle.
Lesson 6 — Driving for Life: Long-term safe driving habits, transporting passengers safely, and the final course exam.
How Long the Course Takes
The course is designed to meet the state-required 8-hour length. It is completely self-paced — you work through the material at your own speed. Most students complete the course across one or more sessions spread over a few days, but you can move as quickly or as slowly as you like.
You must complete the course within 60 days of your conviction date to receive the point prevention benefit. This deadline is set by Missouri law and is your responsibility to track.
Quizzes and Final Exam
Each of the 6 lessons ends with a quiz. You must pass each quiz with a score of 80% or higher (8 out of 10 questions) before the next lesson unlocks.
The final exam is in Lesson 6 and consists of 50 questions drawn from the quiz question pool. You must score 80% or higher (40 out of 50) to pass.
Both quizzes and the final exam are open book — you may refer to the course material during any assessment. You may retake quizzes and the final exam as many times as needed. Correct answers are shown after each attempt.
Your Completion Certificate — Form 4444
When you pass the final exam and complete all course requirements, Driving Logic automatically generates your Form 4444 completion certificate and emails it to you as a PDF attachment immediately. There is no in-account download — save the PDF from your email.
What to Do With Your Form 4444
Driving Logic does not submit your completion to the Missouri Department of Revenue. After receiving your Form 4444, you are responsible for the following steps:
Print your Form 4444.
Take it to the court that ordered your course. A court clerk will sign and date it.
The court forwards your completion record to the Missouri Department of Revenue within 15 days.
Once the DOR processes your record, points will not be assessed for the qualifying conviction.
Point Prevention
Completing the Missouri Driver Improvement Program prevents points from being assessed on your Missouri driving record for the qualifying conviction — provided you complete the course within 60 days of your conviction date and your court submits Form 4444 to the DOR on time.
The point prevention benefit is available once every 36 months. Whether you are eligible is determined by your court and the Missouri DOR — not by Driving Logic.
Refunds
Driving Logic offers a full refund within 30 days of purchase if your Form 4444 has not been issued. Contact us and we can help. If your certificate has already been issued, a refund is not available.
