What Is the Missouri Driver Improvement Program (DIP)?

The Missouri Driver Improvement Program (DIP) is a court-ordered online course that prevents points from being assessed on your Missouri driving record after a traffic conviction. It is administered by the Missouri Safety Center at the University of Central Missouri and authorized under Missouri Revised Statutes §302.302.

What Does the Course Do?

Completing the Missouri Driver Improvement Program prevents points from being assessed on your Missouri driving record for the qualifying conviction — provided you complete the course within 60 days of your conviction date and your court submits your completion to the Missouri Department of Revenue.

Missouri uses a point system to track traffic violations. Accumulating too many points can lead to a license suspension or revocation. Completing the DIP prevents those points from being added in the first place.

Who Takes This Course?

The Missouri Driver Improvement Program is for Missouri-licensed drivers who have been ordered by a court to complete a driver improvement course. A judge or court must approve your participation before you can enroll.

This course is not available for voluntary enrollment. You must have a court order to take it.

How Does the Course Work?

The course is completed entirely online on a computer, tablet, or smartphone. It takes a minimum of 8 hours to complete across 6 lessons. You do not need to finish in one sitting — your progress saves automatically and you can return at any time.

Each lesson ends with a quiz you must pass before moving to the next lesson. The final exam is in Lesson 6.

What Happens After You Finish?

When you complete the course and pass the final exam, Driving Logic emails you Form 4444 — the official Missouri completion certificate. You then:

  1. Print Form 4444 and take it to the court that ordered your course.

  2. A court clerk signs the certificate.

  3. The court forwards your completion record to the Missouri Department of Revenue within 15 days.

Driving Logic does not submit your completion to the Missouri DOR. That step goes through your court.
