Who Is Eligible to Take the Missouri Driver Improvement Program (DIP)?

To take the Missouri Driver Improvement Program, you must be a Missouri-licensed driver with a court order approving your participation. The course is not available for voluntary enrollment.

Requirements to Enroll

You must meet all of the following:

  • You hold a valid Missouri driver's license

  • A court has ordered or approved your participation in the Driver Improvement Program

  • You are enrolling to complete the course within 60 days of your conviction date

Who Is Not Eligible

The following drivers cannot take the Missouri Driver Improvement Program:

  • CDL holders from any state. Commercial driver's license holders are excluded from this program regardless of the vehicle involved in the violation or which state issued the license.

  • Out-of-state license holders. You must hold a Missouri driver's license. The DIP applies only to Missouri driving records and is processed through Missouri courts.

  • Drivers without a court order. The course is not available for voluntary enrollment. Court approval is required before you can enroll.

  • Drivers past the 60-day window. If more than 60 days have passed since your conviction date, completing the course will not result in the point prevention benefit. Check with your court before enrolling if you are near or past this deadline.

The 36-Month Rule

The point prevention benefit from this course is available once every 36 months per driver.

Driving Logic does not verify your 36-month eligibility. Your court reviews your driver history before approving DIP participation. If you complete the course and you are within 36 months of a previous completion, the Missouri DOR will determine whether the benefit applies — that is between you, your court, and the DOR.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I take the course if I have a Missouri license but my ticket was in another state? The Missouri Driver Improvement Program is administered through Missouri courts and applies to Missouri driving records. Contact your court to confirm whether the course satisfies a requirement from another state.

What if I am not sure whether I am within the 60-day window? Check the date of your conviction and count forward 60 days. If you are near the deadline, contact your court before enrolling to confirm your situation. Driving Logic does not track your conviction date deadline.

How do I know if my court approved my participation? Your court will inform you whether you are eligible for the Driver Improvement Program at your court appearance or by written notice. If you are unsure, contact your court directly before enrolling.

What happens if I took the course within the past 36 months? Whether the benefit applies a second time within 36 months is determined by the Missouri DOR when they process your Form 4444 — not by Driving Logic. Contact your court before enrolling if you have completed the course recently.
