What Happens After I Finish the Florida Basic Driver Improvement Course?

After finishing the Florida BDI course, your certificate is emailed immediately and Driving Logic reports your completion to the FLHSMV within 1 business day.

Updated today

When you finish the Florida Basic Driver Improvement (BDI) course and pass the final exam, two things happen automatically:

  1. Your completion certificate is emailed to you immediately

  2. Driving Logic reports your completion to the FLHSMV within 1 business day

Your Certificate

Your certificate is sent to the email address you used when you enrolled as a PDF attachment. Check your inbox for an email from Driving Logic. If you do not see it, check your spam or junk folder.

Save the PDF — this is the only copy provided. Your certificate is not available for download from your account.

FLHSMV Reporting

Driving Logic reports your completion to the FLHSMV electronically within 1 business day of you passing the exam. The FLHSMV processes the submission instantly. You can verify the update at flhsmv.gov after 1 business day has passed.

No action is required from you to trigger this. Driving Logic does not report to county clerks, individual courts, or insurance companies.

If a Court Required the Course

Driving Logic reports to the FLHSMV only — not to courts. If your court requires proof of completion, download — save — the certificate from your email and submit it to your court according to their instructions. Check your court paperwork for the submission method and deadline.

If You Want to Use Your Certificate for an Insurance Discount

Submit your certificate PDF directly to your insurance provider. Driving Logic does not submit certificates to insurers. Contact your insurer to confirm what documentation they need and how to submit it.

If You Took the Course Voluntarily

Keep your certificate for your records. Voluntary enrollment does not prevent points — the point prevention benefit only applies when you formally elect the course in connection with a qualifying citation.
