Do I Need Permission From My Court Before Enrolling?

If a court ordered you to complete a driver improvement clinic, confirm with your court that it accepts an online course before you enroll. This is your responsibility, not Driving Logic's.

Updated today

If a court ordered you to complete a driver improvement clinic, you should confirm with your court that it accepts an online course before you enroll. While most Virginia courts accept DMV-licensed online clinics, not all do — and it is your responsibility to verify this before spending money on the course.

If Your Court Ordered You to Complete a Clinic

  1. Contact your court's clerk's office and confirm that an online DMV-licensed driver improvement clinic satisfies your order

  2. Note your deadline — your court paperwork states when you must complete and submit proof

  3. Enroll at drivinglogic.com once you have confirmed acceptance

  4. Complete the course by your court's deadline and submit your DIC 552B certificate to the court

If You Are Taking the Course Voluntarily

No court permission is needed for voluntary enrollment. You can enroll at any time.

If the DMV Required You to Take the Course

No court permission is required. The DMV requirement is separate from the court system. Follow the instructions in the DMV notice you received.

Frequently Asked Questions

My court paperwork says I need to complete a driver improvement clinic. Is that enough? It depends on whether the court specifies online or in-person. Confirm with your court's clerk's office before assuming online is acceptable.

What if I enrolled before checking and my court does not accept online courses? Contact us at [email protected]. If you have not yet completed the course and your certificate has not been issued, a refund may be available within 30 days of purchase.

Does my court need to know in advance that I am taking the course online? Some courts do and some do not. When you contact the clerk's office to confirm acceptance, ask whether there is anything specific they need from you before you enroll.
