What Happens If I Do Not Finish the Texas Adult Driver Education Course (ADE)

Your progress is saved and you can return at any time within your 120-day enrollment window. If your enrollment expires before you finish, you must repurchase to continue.

Updated today

If you do not finish the course, your progress is saved automatically and you can return at any time within your 120-day enrollment window. No ADEE-1317 certificate is issued until you finish all lessons and pass the DPS exam. If your enrollment window expires before you complete the course, you must repurchase to continue.

Your Progress Is Saved

Leaving the course without finishing does not delete your progress. Log back in at drivinglogic.com at any time during your 120-day window and continue from where you left off.

Your Enrollment Window Is 120 Days

Your enrollment is active for 120 days from the date of purchase. Complete the course within that window to receive your ADEE-1317 certificate. If the 120-day window expires before you finish:

  • Your enrollment closes

  • Your progress from that enrollment is not recoverable

  • You must repurchase the course to start a new enrollment

No DPS Appointment Until You Have Your Certificate

You cannot complete the ITAD program or schedule a DPS driver license appointment without your ADEE-1317 certificate. Finishing the course is the necessary first step before any subsequent licensing steps can be taken.

No Penalty for Returning Later — Within Your Window

There is no penalty for returning to the course days or weeks after you started. Many adult students complete it in a few sessions spread over time. Take the time you need — just finish before the 120-day window closes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be charged again if I return to finish the course? No — as long as you are within your 120-day enrollment window. If your window has expired, you would need to repurchase the course.

What if I forgot my login information? Use the Forgot Password link on the drivinglogic.com login page. If you cannot locate your account, contact Driving Logic support with the name and email address you used at registration.

Can I start the ITAD program before finishing the Driving Logic course? No. You need the ADE control number from your ADEE-1317 certificate to register for ITAD. You cannot get that number until you complete the course and pass the DPS exam.

Does an incomplete course affect my driving record? No. An incomplete course has no effect on your Texas driving record.

What if I decide I no longer need the course? Contact Driving Logic support. See the refund article for information on our refund policy.

How close to the 120-day deadline can I finish? You can complete the course right up to the last day of your enrollment window. If you think you might be cutting it close, log in and check your progress to make sure you have enough time to finish.
