Does Driving Logic Report My Completion to TDLR
Yes. Driving Logic automatically reports to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) when each DE-964 certificate is issued. This reporting is required by Texas law and happens without any action needed from the student or parent.
When Reporting Happens
Driving Logic reports to TDLR at each certificate milestone:
Event | Reporting |
DE-964 Permit Certificate issued (Module 1 complete + DPS exam passed) | Reported to TDLR automatically |
DE-964 Full Completion Certificate issued (all 24 hours complete) | Reported to TDLR automatically |
Reporting typically occurs within 1 business day of each certificate being issued. The statutory deadline for providers is 15 calendar days.
TDLR DESSearch
After reporting, completion data appears in TDLR's public verification system at tdlr.texas.gov/DESSearch. It can take up to 5 days after certificate issuance for the record to appear in DESSearch. If a family wants to verify completion before a DPS appointment, they can look it up there.
No Need to Wait for TDLR Processing Before the DPS Appointment
Students do not need to wait for the record to appear in DESSearch before scheduling or attending their DPS appointment. The Texas DPS verifies completion through the security features printed on the DE-964 certificate itself — not by checking the TDLR system in real time at the counter. Bring the printed certificate and proceed with the appointment as planned.
Driving Logic Does Not Report to DPS
Driving Logic reports to TDLR. It does not contact the DPS office or submit the certificate on the family's behalf. The family brings the printed DE-964 certificate to DPS at each applicable visit.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the student need to do anything to trigger the report? No. Reporting to TDLR is automatic when each certificate is issued. No additional steps are needed from the student or parent.
The DPS said they cannot find the record — what do I do? DPS verifies completion using the security features on the certificate, not a real-time TDLR lookup. If the certificate is in hand, bring it to the appointment. If DPS raises a concern about the record, let us know with the student's name and enrollment date and we can help.
Can the report be verified before the DPS visit? Yes. Check tdlr.texas.gov/DESSearch using the student's information. Allow up to 5 days after certificate issuance for the record to appear. If the record is not there after 5 days, let us know and we can help.
Does Driving Logic report both certificates or just one? Both. Driving Logic reports to TDLR when the Permit Certificate is issued (after Module 1 and the DPS exam) and again when the Full Completion Certificate is issued (after all 24 hours).
