What the Certificate Fee Covers

The $10 certificate fee covers the issuance of both DE-964 certificates:

  • DE-964 Permit Qualification Certificate — issued automatically after completing Module 1 and passing the DPS exam

  • DE-964 Full Completion Certificate — issued automatically after completing all 12 modules

Both are included in the single $10 fee paid at enrollment. There is no additional charge at the time each certificate is issued.

Refund Policy

The $59.95 course fee is refundable within 30 days of purchase if no DE-964 certificate has been issued. The $10 certificate fee is non-refundable. The PTDE Packet fee ($20) is paid to TDLR and cannot be refunded through Driving Logic — contact TDLR directly for packet-related refund inquiries.

The PTDE Packet Is a Separate Purchase

The $20 PTDE Program Guide Packet is not included in the Driving Logic course fee. It is purchased separately from TDLR at tdlr.texas.gov and must be received before the teen starts the course. Each student needs their own packet — if a second teen in the family takes the course later, a new $20 packet is required.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a fee each time a certificate is issued? No. The single $10 certificate fee paid at enrollment covers both DE-964 certificates. There is no additional charge when each certificate is generated.

Are there any hidden fees? No. The $69.95 covers everything from Driving Logic: course access, all course materials, the official DPS exam included in Module 1, and both certificates. DPS fees and the PTDE Packet are separate state fees not paid to Driving Logic.

What if I need a replacement certificate? Replacement copies of both DE-964 certificates can be downloaded from the course dashboard at any time. If you need access after the enrollment window has closed, let us know and we can resend them at no charge.

Is the course less expensive than a commercial driving school? Yes, significantly. Commercial driving schools that include classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction typically cost several hundred dollars. The PTDE program lets the family handle the behind-the-wheel training, reducing the cost to the course, packet, and DPS fees only.

Does completing the course qualify the teen for an insurance discount? Many insurance providers offer a discount for completing state-approved driver education. Contact your insurance provider to ask about eligibility — the DE-964 certificate serves as proof of completion.
