Will the Arizona Defensive Driving Course (DDC) Keep the Violation Off My Driving Record
Yes. Successfully completing the Arizona Defensive Driving Course diverts your citation, which means the violation is dismissed before it is recorded. The violation does not appear on your Arizona MVD driving record and no points are assessed for it.
How Citation Diversion Works
When you complete the course, Driving Logic reports your completion to the Arizona court database. The court then dismisses your citation. Because the citation is diverted before a conviction is recorded, the violation is never entered on your MVD record. You also do not pay the court fine.
What the Course Does Not Do
The course diverts only the current pending citation. It cannot remove violations or points that are already on your MVD record from previous citations. It also can only divert one violation per citation — if your citation lists multiple violations, only one is eligible for diversion through the course.
Only One Violation Per Citation Can Be Diverted
If your citation includes more than one violation, you can only use the defensive driving course to divert one of them. You must contact the court about any remaining violations on the same citation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the violation show on my driving record after completing the course? No. A successfully diverted citation is dismissed and never entered on your MVD record.
Will my insurance rates go up because of this citation? Because the citation is dismissed and does not appear on your MVD record, most insurers will not see it and your rates should not be affected by this specific violation. Contact your insurer if you have concerns.
Can the course remove points that are already on my record from past violations? No. The course can only divert the current pending citation. It cannot remove existing points or violations from your MVD record.
What if I have two violations on my citation? Only one violation per citation can be diverted through the defensive driving course. Contact your court about how to handle additional violations on the same citation.
What if I completed the course but the violation still appears on my record? Call the court of jurisdiction and let them know you completed a certified defensive driving course for that citation. If the violation was incorrectly recorded after a valid completion, the court can correct it. Let us know and we can help verify your completion record as well.
