What Happens After I Finish the Texas Driving Safety Course (DSC)
After passing your final lesson quiz, the course marks you as complete and two things happen automatically: your DS-230 certificate is emailed to you, and Driving Logic reports your completion to TDLR. From there, your next steps depend on why you took the course.
If You Took the Course for Ticket Dismissal
You are responsible for submitting your documents to the court. Driving Logic does not submit anything to the court on your behalf. You must deliver the following to your court by the court's deadline:
Your DS-230 completion certificate — emailed to you by Driving Logic after completing the course
A certified Type 3A driving record — ordered from the Texas Department of Public Safety
Order your Type 3A driving record from the Texas DPS website as soon as possible so you have it ready before the deadline. Most courts set a 90-day deadline from when permission was granted. Do not wait.
If You Took the Course Voluntarily for an Insurance Discount
Provide your DS-230 certificate to your insurance company. They will confirm eligibility and apply the discount to your policy. No court submission is needed.
What Driving Logic Does After Completion
Driving Logic reports your completion to TDLR. Your DS-230 certificate number will appear in the TDLR validation system within 5 days of issuance. Courts can verify your certificate at tdlr.texas.gov/DESSearch.
Driving Logic does not contact your court, submit your certificate to the court, or handle any court-side paperwork on your behalf.
