Yes. There is a 4-question quiz at the end of each of the 12 modules. The teen must pass each quiz before the next module unlocks. There is also a DPS written knowledge exam integrated at the end of Module 1 (the permit exam).

Each module ends with a 4-question multiple-choice quiz covering the content from that module. The passing score is 70% — at least 3 of 4 questions correct. If the teen does not pass on the first attempt, they can retake the quiz immediately with no cooldown and no penalty.

Module 1 contains a second, more significant assessment: the official 30-question Texas DPS Highway Sign and Traffic Law Examination. This is the written knowledge test required for the Learner's Permit. Passing it generates the DE-964 Permit Certificate. It has a 24-hour cooldown if not passed on the first attempt.

What happens if the teen fails a module quiz? They can retake it immediately. There is no waiting period and no penalty for retaking. See the quiz failure article for details.

Are the quiz questions the same on every attempt? Questions may vary between attempts on the same quiz. The quiz draws from a pool of questions for that module's content.

Do quiz scores appear on the DE-964 certificate? No. The certificate confirms the course was completed but does not show individual quiz scores.

Is the DPS permit exam the same as the module quizzes? No. The 4-question module quizzes are course assessments. The 30-question DPS permit exam at the end of Module 1 is the official Texas written knowledge test used for the Learner's Permit application.

How many total quiz questions are there across the full course? 48 quiz questions across 12 modules (4 per module), plus the 30-question DPS permit exam in Module 1 — 78 assessment questions total.
