What Is the ITTD Course and When Do I Need to Complete It
ITTD stands for Impact Texas Teen Drivers. It is a free 2-hour video program from the Texas Department of Public Safety focused on the dangers of distracted driving. It is required after all behind-the-wheel training is complete and before the road test. It is a separate program from the Driving Logic course.
What ITTD Covers
ITTD is an 8-part video using real crash stories, hard facts, and expert insights to illustrate the consequences of distracted driving — particularly cell phone use and multitasking while driving. The theme is that good teens make poor choices behind the wheel, and the program is designed to build awareness before the road test.
When to Complete It
ITTD must be completed: * After all 44 BTW hours are finished * Before the road test (driving skills exam) * Within 90 days of the road test date — the ITTD certificate expires 90 days after completion
Complete ITTD when the teen is ready to schedule the road test within the next 90 days. Do not complete it months in advance.
Who Provides It
ITTD is a Texas DPS program only — it is not offered by private companies including Driving Logic. It is free and available at impacttexasdrivers.dps.texas.gov.
Physical Certificate Required
A physical printed copy of the ITTD certificate must be brought to the road test. Digital copies on a phone are not accepted. Print the certificate and keep it with the other Provisional License documents.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the teen complete ITTD before finishing BTW? No. ITTD must be completed after BTW training is done and before the road test.
Is ITTD part of the Driving Logic course? No. ITTD is a separate free program from the Texas DPS. It is not part of the Driving Logic classroom course and does not replace the Module 7 distracted driving content in the course.
What if the ITTD certificate expires before the road test? Complete ITTD again. It is free and takes about 2 hours. There is no limit on how many times it can be completed.
What does the teen need to register for ITTD? They need a driver education type (Parent-Taught) and the TDLR school number from their Driving Logic course or PTDE materials. See the ITTD completion article for step-by-step instructions.
What if the teen cannot print the ITTD certificate? The certificate must be physically printed. If printing at home is not an option, a library, school, or office supply store can print it. Do not go to the road test without it — the road test cannot proceed without a valid ITTD certificate.
