What Do I Need to Bring to the DPS to Get My Learner's Permit
After the teen completes Module 1 and passes the DPS permit exam, they can apply for a Texas Learner's Permit at a DPS driver license office. The teen must be at least 15 years old. Missing any required document means the DPS will not process the application.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the teen still take any test at the DPS? Only a vision test. The written knowledge test is waived because the DE-964 Permit Certificate shows it was already passed online.
What is a VOE form? A Verification of Enrollment and Attendance form signed by a school official confirming the teen is currently enrolled. It is valid for 30 days. See the VOE article for more details.
What if the teen is home-schooled? Home-schooled teens use a home school affidavit instead of a VOE. Contact the Texas DPS or your home school administrator for the appropriate form.
My teen's name on the DE-964 certificate does not match their ID — what do I do? Contact Driving Logic support immediately. The certificate name must match the teen's legal ID before the DPS visit.
Can the permit be obtained without the parent present? No. A parent or legal guardian must accompany the teen and present their own valid ID at the DPS driver license office.
