Who Is Eligible to Take the Missouri Driver Improvement Program (DIP)?

To take the Missouri Driver Improvement Program, you must be a Missouri-licensed driver with approval to participate — either from a court or through the Fine Collection Center (FCC). The course is not available for voluntary enrollment.

Requirements to Enroll

You must meet all of the following:

  • You hold a valid Missouri driver's license (non-commercial)

  • You have received approval to participate — from a court or through the FCC

  • You are enrolling to complete the course within 60 days of your conviction date

If you are not sure which type of approval applies to you, check with the court or FCC for the county where your ticket was issued.

Who Is Not Eligible

The following drivers cannot take the Missouri Driver Improvement Program:

  • CDL holders from any state. Commercial driver's license holders are excluded regardless of the vehicle involved in the violation or which state issued the license.

  • Out-of-state license holders. You must hold a Missouri driver's license. The DIP applies only to Missouri driving records.

  • Drivers without approval. The course is not available for voluntary enrollment. Court or FCC approval is required before you can enroll.

  • Drivers past the 60-day window. If more than 60 days have passed since your conviction date, completing the course will not result in the point prevention benefit. Check with your court or the FCC before enrolling if you are near or past this deadline.

The 36-Month Rule

The point prevention benefit from this course is available once every 36 months per driver.

Driving Logic does not verify your 36-month eligibility. Your court or the FCC reviews your driver history before approving participation. If you complete the course and you are within 36 months of a previous completion, the Missouri DOR will determine whether the benefit applies.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I take the course if I have a Missouri license but my ticket was in another state? The Missouri Driver Improvement Program is administered through Missouri courts and applies to Missouri driving records. Contact your court to confirm whether the course satisfies a requirement from another state.

What if I am not sure whether I am within the 60-day window? Check the date of your conviction and count forward 60 days. If you are near the deadline, contact your court or the FCC before enrolling. Driving Logic does not track your conviction date deadline.

How do I know if my approval came from the FCC or a court? If your ticket was issued by a Missouri State Highway Patrol officer and you paid your fine through the FCC without a court appearance, you likely went through the FCC route. If you appeared before a judge and received approval there, you are on the court-order track. If unsure, check with the court or FCC for your county.

What happens if I took the course within the past 36 months? Whether the benefit applies a second time within 36 months is determined by the Missouri DOR when they process your Form 4444. Contact your court or the FCC before enrolling if you have completed the course recently.
