Updated today

Registration for the Virginia Driver Improvement Course requires a few pieces of identifying information. This information is used to verify your identity, generate your completion certificate, and report your completion to the Virginia DMV.

Required for All Students

  • Full legal name — as it appears on your driver's license

  • Email address — used for your account login and certificate delivery

  • Date of birth

  • Virginia driver's license number — must match the format for a Virginia-issued license

  • Virginia DMV Customer Number — required only if you do not have a Virginia driver's license

Required for Court-Ordered Students Only

  • Citation number — from your court paperwork or traffic citation

  • Issuing court / city or county — the court that ordered you to complete the clinic

If you were ordered by a court but do not have your citation number available, check your court paperwork or contact the court before you register.

Why This Information Is Required

Virginia DMV rules require all online clinic providers to verify that the person completing the course is the person who registered. Your name, date of birth, and driver's license number are also used to populate the fields on your DIC 552B completion certificate, which is the DMV-standardized certificate accepted by the DMV and courts.
