What Happens If I Fail a Quiz

If a module quiz is failed, it can be retaken immediately — there is no waiting period, no penalty, and no limit on the number of attempts. The module stays locked until the quiz is passed, but the teen can try again right away.

What Happens After a Failed Quiz

After a failed module quiz, the course will show which questions were answered incorrectly and what the correct answers are. The teen can review the module content and attempt the quiz again without any delay.

Module Quizzes vs. the DPS Permit Exam

The immediate retake policy applies to the 12 module quizzes only. The DPS written knowledge exam at the end of Module 1 is different — it requires a 24-hour waiting period before a failed attempt can be retried.

Does Failing a Quiz Affect the Certificate?

No. The number of quiz attempts and individual quiz scores are not reflected on either DE-964 certificate. Only the completion of all modules and the passing of all quizzes is recorded.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many times can I retake a module quiz? Unlimited. There is no cap on retake attempts for module quizzes.

What if I keep failing the same quiz? Review the module content before retrying. The quiz questions are based on the material covered in that module. If you are unsure which sections to review, the feedback shown after a failed attempt can help identify the topic areas to focus on.

Does the course reset if I fail too many times? No. Failing a quiz never resets previously completed module content. Only that quiz needs to be retried — all prior work is saved.

I failed the DPS exam — can I retake it right away? No. The DPS permit exam requires a 24-hour waiting period between failed attempts. This is a Texas DPS requirement, not a Driving Logic rule. After the 24-hour wait, the exam can be retaken at no extra cost.
