Do I Need to Go to Court for the Missouri DIP, or Can I Get Approval Through the FCC?

It depends on who issued your ticket and which county you are in. Some Missouri drivers can get DIP approval through the Fine Collection Center (FCC) without appearing in court. Others must appear before a judge.

The Two Approval Tracks

FCC Track — No Court Appearance Required

Who qualifies: - Your citation was issued by a Missouri State Highway Patrol officer - Your county is on the FCC-approved list How it works: 1. Pay your fine to the FCC (online at mofcc.com, by phone at 877-866-3926, or by mail) 2. The FCC automatically approves your DIP participation 3. Enroll in and complete an approved DIP course within 60 days 4. Submit your Form 4444 to the Missouri DOR following FCC instructions

Court Track — Court Appearance Required

Who is on this track: - Your citation was issued by a municipal or county law enforcement officer, OR - Your citation was from a state trooper but your county is not on the FCC list, OR - You submitted a not-guilty plea to the FCC and were routed to court How it works: 1. Appear in court on your scheduled date 2. Request DIP approval from the judge — approval is granted case-by-case 3. Enroll in and complete an approved DIP course within 60 days of your conviction date 4. Take Form 4444 to your court for a clerk signature, then mail it to the Missouri DOR

How to Find Out Which Track Applies to You

  • Check the issuing agency on your citation — state trooper or local law enforcement?

  • Check the county listed on your citation against the FCC-approved county list

  • Contact the court or FCC for the county where your ticket was issued if you are unsure

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my county is on the FCC list? Contact the FCC at 877-866-3926 or visit mofcc.com to confirm whether your county qualifies for FCC-track DIP approval.

My ticket was from a city police officer. Do I go to the FCC? No. Citations from municipal and county law enforcement go directly to your local court. The FCC does not handle those citations.

I am not sure which track I am on. What should I do? Do not enroll until you know. Contact the court or FCC for the county where your ticket was issued. Enrolling before confirming your approval can create problems with your case.
