What If I Enrolled in the Wrong Texas Parent Taught Driver Education Course

If you enrolled in the wrong course, contact Driving Logic support as soon as possible — ideally before any DE-964 certificate has been issued. The sooner you reach out, the more options are available.

Common Wrong-Enrollment Situations

Enrolled in the Adult Driver Education course instead of the Teen course Adults 18–24 use a different course (ADE-1317 certificate). The DE-964 teen certificate and ADE-1317 adult certificate are not interchangeable. Contact us immediately.

Teen turned 18 before finishing the course If the teen turns 18 mid-course, contact Driving Logic support. Depending on their situation, they may need to transition to the Adult Driver Education course.

Enrolled in a course for the wrong state The DE-964 Texas certificate is only accepted by Texas DPS. If enrolled in another state's course, contact us right away.

Enrolled under the wrong name The teen's name on both DE-964 certificates must match their legal government-issued ID exactly. If the name is incorrect, contact us immediately before the certificate is issued — corrections after issuance require a certificate reissue process.

What to Do

Contact Driving Logic support and include:

  • The email address used to enroll

  • The course enrolled in

  • The course you intended to enroll in

  • Whether Module 1 has been completed and whether any DE-964 certificate has been issued

We will review and advise on next steps, which may include a transfer or refund depending on progress.

Frequently Asked Questions

My teen is 17 and enrolled in the Adult Driver Education course by mistake — what do we do? Contact Driving Logic support right away. The Adult Driver Education course (ADE-1317) is a different program and the certificate will not satisfy the teen driver education requirement for a minor.

The name is slightly wrong — does it matter? Yes. Even minor name discrepancies can cause issues at the DPS. Contact us to correct the name before any certificate is issued.

I started the course before realizing the error — can I still get a refund? Contact us immediately. Refund eligibility depends on whether any DE-964 certificate has been issued. See the refund article for our full refund policy.

What if we already received a DE-964 certificate with the wrong course information? Contact Driving Logic support. Depending on the situation, we can advise on next steps. If the DPS cannot accept the certificate, you may need to enroll in the correct course.
