Is There a Final Exam
No — there is no separate final exam at the end of the 24-hour course. The last assessment in the classroom portion is the Module 12 quiz, which is 4 multiple-choice questions like every other module quiz.
What Assessments Are in the Course
Assessment | When | Questions | Purpose |
Module 1 quiz | End of Module 1 | 4 | Unlock next module |
DPS written exam | End of Module 1 (after quiz) | 30 | Earn DE-964 Permit Certificate |
Modules 2–11 quizzes | End of each module | 4 each | Unlock next module |
Module 12 quiz | End of Module 12 | 4 | Trigger Full Completion Certificate |
The 30-question Texas DPS written knowledge exam is the largest assessment in the course — but it appears at the end of Module 1, not at the end of the full course.
What Triggers the Completion Certificate
Passing the Module 12 quiz — combined with all 12 modules completed and the minimum 22 hours of instructional time accumulated — triggers the automatic issuance of the DE-964 Full Completion Certificate. No additional exam is required.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to pass a comprehensive exam to get the completion certificate? No. Passing all 12 module quizzes (4 questions each, 70% passing) and meeting the minimum instructional time requirement is all that is needed for the Full Completion Certificate.
Is the DPS exam a final exam for the full course? No. The DPS exam appears at the end of Module 1 and is specifically the gateway to the Learner's Permit. It is not a final assessment for the full 24-hour course.
What if I fail the Module 12 quiz? Retake it immediately — there is no waiting period and no penalty. Like all other module quizzes, Module 12 can be retaken as many times as needed at no extra cost.
