Yes — the Driving Logic Texas Parent Taught Driver Education course tracks active instructional time. Idle time does not count. The course enforces a maximum of 6 hours per day and cannot be completed in fewer than 4 calendar days.

Is the Course Timed

Yes. The course tracks active instructional time — time spent actively engaging with the course content. Leaving a page open without interacting with it does not count toward the 24-hour requirement. The timer only runs while the teen is actively moving through the material.

Daily Maximum

Texas law limits online driver education to 6 hours of instruction per day. The course enforces this limit automatically — once 6 hours of instructional time have been logged in a calendar day, the teen cannot continue until the next day.

Minimum Days to Complete

Because of the 6-hour daily cap, the course cannot be completed in fewer than 4 calendar days (24 hours ÷ 6 hours per day = 4 days minimum).

What Counts as Active Time

Active instructional time includes reading course content, watching video or animated content, and interacting with quizzes and activities. Leaving a browser tab open, sitting idle on a page, or pausing a video does not count.

Course Access Window

The enrollment provides 120 days of access from the date of purchase. The 24 hours of required instruction must be completed within that window. If the enrollment expires before the course is finished, the teen must repurchase to continue.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can we complete the full 24 hours in one day? No. The daily maximum is 6 hours. The course cannot be completed in fewer than 4 calendar days.

Can the teen do more than 6 hours in a day by starting after midnight? No. The 6-hour cap is per calendar day. The course enforces this limit automatically.

What if the teen walks away from the screen — does the timer keep running? No. Idle time does not count toward the instructional time requirement. The timer tracks active engagement with the content only.

Does the timer reset each day? Yes. The 6-hour daily cap resets each calendar day, allowing up to 6 more hours of instructional time.

What if the internet drops mid-session? Progress is saved at each completed section boundary. If the connection drops, the teen may need to redo the current section, but all previously completed content is preserved. Time logged before the disconnect is recorded.
